topCalifornia Prop 65 Warning
What is the California Proposition 65 warning?
The Prop 65 advisement states:
WARNING: Certain products sold here can expose you to chemicals including di(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate (DEHP), diisononyl phthalate (DINP), bisphenol-A (BPA), cadmium, and lead or lead compounds, which are known to the State of California to cause cancer or birth defects or other reproductive harm. Please speak to a team member for a list of products that may contain such chemicals. For more information, go to www.p65Warnings.ca.gov.
We gladly and responsibly comply with the regulations in place by the state of California that require us to post this notice. Please note, however, that posting this notice by mandate is not intended to imply that our collectibles are harmful to own, handle, or display. Funko has been producing items for our collectors since 1998, and you can be assured we would not manufacture or sell a product that would knowingly put our workers, collectors, or the public at risk.
Prop 65 standards are among the most stringent standards in place anywhere and are often far more stringent than federal requirements, with which all of our products comply. Naturally, we encourage our customers to be aware and take heed of all product warnings, but also do research of your own. A Prop 65 warning does not automatically mean that the product is unsafe. Our products are made from a combination of various vinyl plastic components and non-toxic paints.
Are your products safe for babies and kids?
Our boxes will note the age recommended for safe handling, and some will have higher age restrictions than others, due to small parts or accessories that could detach, creating a choking hazard for small children. As such, we do not recommend our figures to be used as toys or placed in the mouth.
Is it safe to expose figures to water?
While our figures are somewhat "splash proof," we don't recommend that our collectors to keep them submerged in water, such as a fish tank accessory or keeping them stored in a high-humidity environment. Whether you choose to enjoy your collection in- or out-of-box, we encourage you to store them in a cool, dry environment.
What products do you recommend for cleaning or repair?
Since our figures can vary in appearance and have varying accessories and parts, we don't have a one-size-fits-all approach to making any needed repairs. Your best bet is to reach out to the collector community online, through social media or discussion boards, to see if someone has a great recommendation for a certain adhesive or other technique to keep your figure in good shape! You can also inquire at your local hardware store about the best adhesives or other substances to use on vinyl plastic.
For removing paint smudges, there are a few techniques suggested by collectors such as a diluted acetone or a magic erasing sponge. Diluted isopropyl alcohol has also been recommended, as well as simply scratching or scuffing at the paint with your fingernail. Use any of these techniques at your own risk and with extreme caution, as it could damage the finish.
If your item arrives to you irreparably damaged or with significant paint flaws, please return it to the place of purchase with your receipt, and they should be able to support you within their normal store policy for refund or exchange.
